Dr. Akamba Anastasie Clarisse, Director of the Cité Verte District Hospital in Cameroon’s capital -Yaounde, has died. She joins many persons who have succumbed to COVID-19 in Cameroon.
She passed away on July 10, 2020, at the Orca particular treatment center in Yaounde. Dr. Akamba Anastasie Clarisse is now enlisted among over a dozen health professionals who have lost their lives to the deadly COVID-19.
Dr. Akamba Anastasie Dies From Covid-19
Before her death, the seasoned medical doctor, and Director of the Cité Verte hospital in Cameroon’s Capital-Yaounde, struggled to care for almost half of her hospital’s staff who had reportedly contracted the virus.
Unfortunately, Dr. Akamba Anastasie would also contract the virus and battle for her life at the Orca special treatment center, where she died after 11 days.
Her demise has left the staff of the Cité Verte District Hospital utterly devastated.
Dr. Lucien Mama, head of the Cité Verte Health District, told CRTV web it is a tough time for the hospital staff who unexpectedly lost their Director.
Who was Dr. Akamba Anastasie Clarisse ?
The late seasoned medical doctor studied medicine in Belgium. She returned to Cameroon and was admitted to the then CUSS, now Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Yaounde 1.

Upon completion, she worked at the Pediatric Unit of the Biyemassi District Hospital, where she was named the best health personnel. A few years later, she was appointed Director of the Mvog Ada District Hospital, where she served for 15 years, before being transferred to the SOA District hospital. Her next assignment was at the Cité Verte District Hospital, where she spent 5 years as Director.
Dr. Akamba Anastasie Clarisse was also the medical doctor of the U-17 Female Indomitable Lionesses.
Her career as a medical doctor spans over 25 years in health districts in the country.
